BARCELONA 2013

Back in April 2013 me and three of my friends took a 6 day trip to Barcelona during our Easter break.
This was done on an absolute budget, including travel from Newcastle to Manchester, metros and trains in-between, flights from Manchester to Reus, hour long bus from Reus to Barcelona, 10 journey metro ticket round Barcelona anddd 5 nights accommodation and all travel back to Newcastle came to £120.
Who would pass up 6 days in Barcelona for £120, not us. Lorna who had to pay an extra £60 to get from Belfast to Newcastle decided to go the day before we booked. Decision well made.

Our base was round the corner from la sagrada familia so we were lucky to be so central.
It was my first trip without my family and made me realise that I can be independent and responsible.
Travel can be super cheap if your flexible and low maintenance, Barcelona thought me that and it also made my fear of hostels disappear. Overall win.

Great experiences with great people, I feel so blessed.

Top Ten | Books

I do love a good book and wish I could read more without uni work getting in the way but here's a list of my top ten favourite books. It's a weird mix but there all ones I would read over and over again.

My favourite type of books are autobiography's so I'll start with them.

Mud, Sweat and Tears by Bear Grylls

As soon as I read this book, I started all over again, it's that good. I don't know what it was about his story but it was so life positive. It made me want to climb Mt. Everest myself!

My Shit Life So Far by Frankie Boyle

I know how controversial Frankie Boyle is as a comedian but I like him. I don't get offended over jokes or by people I don't know personally so I find him hilarious and this book matches his dark humour.

I Am Ozzy by Ozzy Osborne

Funny, funny, funny book. You don't have to be a heavy metal fan to enjoy this book. His antics are entertainment enough. Ozzy is one of my favourite people!

Harry Potter and The Philosopher's Stone by J. K. Rowling

This is my favourite book and film of the series. I actually got told off by my mummy and brother for putting this on everyday after school for like a term straight. Not even ashamed to say I was 18 at the time.

Sleepovers by Jacqueline Wilson

This is a weird one but I felt bad leaving it out but this was my favourite book as a kid. I swear I've read it over 100 times. I haven't read it in years but making this list reminded me off it and I'm going to buy a copy soon. I hope it's as good as I remember!

On The Road by Jack Kerouac

I loved the style of writing in this book and the way they spoke years ago. I've seen the film and wasn't impressed really so I read the book again to make sure I didn't forget how much I loved Jack Kerouac.

Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry by Mildren D. Taylor

This book is narrated by Cassie, a child growing up in 'The South' after the American Civil War when racism was still very common. It's such an interesting story and you learn to understand how life was like back then and the impact of racism.

The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky

I read this shortly before the movie came out and quickly tried to circle it around my friends so they could get hyped about the movie release as well. A big group of us went to see the movie and came out changed peeps.

Under The Hawthorn Tree by Marita Conlon-McKenna

This is the first in the Children of the Famine trilogy set at the time of the Great Famine in Ireland. In Irish mythology, the hawthorn is linked with the otherworld so you can expect a few deaths. Great insight to the struggles of that time.

Face to Face with Serial Killers by Christopher Berry-Dee

I have about six books on serial killers and psychopaths, I'm a bit obsessed but I just find it so interesting. This book gives in-depth descriptions of some of the most famous serial killer cases. It helped me a lot in my crime module at uni but to be honest I would have read it for fun anyway.

I hope I still like these in years to come and it will be good to look back on and jog my memory if I'm ever stuck for my next read.

Hair Products: Review

I have the worlds flattest hair, it's quite fine as well and really long so to get any volume in it is an absolute chore!
I'm always trying to find a product that will basically magic my hair into a huge mane.

John Frieda Luxurious Volume Shampoo and Conditioner -
I think maybe leaving the volume to styling products is a good idea even though these did give me a bit of volume, it didn't really work wonders and it actually made my scalp flake so I defiantly wouldn't purchase them again.
got2b Powder'ful volumizing styling powder -
My friend swore by this so I caved and bought it. It's such a weird feeling in your hair but it does do the job. It's really good if you don't like to back comb your hair.
Toni&Guy sea salt spray -
I'm not a massive fan of this, I just don't like the way my hair feels with it but I do like it if I'm putting my hair in a ponytail so it's not poker straight and has a bit of texture.
Toni&Guy volume mousse -
I use this before I blow dry my hair and I do notice a difference in my hair and the bottle lasts forever!

got2b glued hairspray -
Get it, just get it. It's amazing, not the nicest smell but it will last forever in your hair.
Fat Hair thickening creme -
I've only used this on my roots but I have noticed it thickening my hair which is great cus that's what it's supposed to do so I can't fault it.
Umberto Giannini Backcomb in a Bottle -
This smells amazing and it does lift my hair without putting a brush to it so it's perfect for when I'm in a rush or just want a little boost.

I don't know how helpful they were but I know I like to read reviews of products before I get them. I sometimes think nothing will work on my hair cus the products above do wonders for others but it's just finding the ones that match your hair type. I'm all about volume so my search continues for that miracle product.

Harry Potter Studio Tour

Me and my time turner went to Hogwarts !!
I was super lucky enough to visit Warner Brothers Studio this month while I was in London.
It was a dream come true and if your a super duper HP fan too then you have to go!

It hurt a little to find out Emma Watson was there the night after us and that some of my favourite YouTubers were there yesterday but I guess it wasn't meant to be. I still had an awesome time, it was such a good experience to view the Wizarding World in a different way.

I also tried not to spend my entire student loan in the gift shop but Matthew bought me the coolest Ravenclaw mug which reminds me.. I was the only one to give a shout out to the Ravenclaws in the great hall.
Where my Ravenclaw's at?
And I haddd to buy the every flavour beans and the chocolate frog, one of which I'll give to my little brother who didn't get to go bless him.

So that was my magic adventure!

LONDON 2013

During reading week (week off uni) me and two of my good friends Matthew and Kerry decided to go to London for a few days. I adore London and didn't hesitate taking the opportunity to go.
Took the megabus down (6/7 hour journey) and anyone who has taken the megabus before knows my pain. We stayed in a hostel in Edgware Road which done the job.

First day we played tourist as it was Kerry's first time to the capital and went to Camden for a few alcoholic beverages.

Second day we went to the Harry Potter Studio Tour which I will do a post on soon obvs :)
More sightseeing and shopping!

Despite Kerry getting on the wrong tube, I am Queen of the underground, should have listened to me Kerry haha! This resulted in her missing a night out in Leicester Square where me and Matthew found a quaint little gay club where we had the best night ending up in a casino til the first tube in the morning ran.

Last day we had an abs geg in weather spoons curing our hangovers and preparing for the megabus back.
All in all it was theee best three days in London, so much laughing and memory making.

What I'm Listening To #3

Kyla La Grange is a singer/songwriter from Watford, England, I borrowed her album Ashes of a friend and there's three songs I realllly like off it. Vampire Smile, Heavy Stone and my favourite Been Better.

I missed the chance to see her play for a fiver because I was at home but I hope she tours again and I get to go!
__________

Now if you haven't heard this then you have been missing out! Blackbird by The Beatles is, in my opinion, the best Beatles song ever. (Brave statement to make I know) but I've loved it forever.

I love knowing peoples favourite Beatles song, it is a tough decision to make, there's so many greats like Something, Eleanor Rigby, Fool on the Hill and Dear Prudence.
__________

Box of Light are a band fronted by blogger and youtuber MelonLady who is my Style Crush! I love their band and all their behind the scenes videos.

Falling is my absolute favourite song of there's it's so beautiful and her voice suits it perfectly!

Kate Moss Lipstick | Vamp

This is just a post to show how I wore the Kate Moss lipstick (004) I love the vampy vibe, especially now that it's getting darker earlier. Defiantly my favourite time of year!.

Everything is probably from Primark, I've had a lot of the stuff for a while but I am the Primark Queen so it's a good guess. The hat which isn't shown clearly is from H&M and the necklace is from River Island and also the glasses are Gok Wan incase anyone wanted to know :)
